06. Coming off of Caffeine

Modern society, within an epidemic of chronic illness, is absolutely hooked and addicted to caffeine, primarily through the coffee bean. Why? Because it is the only way for many of us to be able to function and compensate for underlying system dysregulation.

In today’s age, all of us are battling with some concoction of underlying toxins and pathogens. It’s just a matter of the extent to which we have them such as what types we have, where they are located, how much we have and if there are other stressors in our lives that will determine what signs, symptoms or illnesses we experience from them.

We drink coffee and consume caffeinated products primarily to give us an energy boost. Of course, many of us also enjoy the flavor of coffee but the bottom line is that we are primarily  using caffeine as a crutch to function in our lives.

What’s wrong with caffeine?

  • Dehydrates your cells
  • Triggers your adrenal glands to produce adrenaline via a false fight or flight state of being (which is what gives you energy) at the expense of overworking and eventually burning out your adrenal glands (and life force). Meanwhile, all the extra adrenaline that is being produced is:
    • Corrosive to your nervous system and brain
    • Requires extra effort by your liver and kidneys to process
    • Any extra unprocessed adrenaline becomes stored in your fat and organ cells.
    • Can lead to insomnia, kidney stones, anxiety and other emotional dysregulation

For some of you, letting go of coffee will be no big deal. For others it will be a bit of a challenge and for some it will take extra time and require additional support measures. For example, if you have significant fatigue issues and need caffeine to get through your day, you will have to go slow. The goal is to make it as painless as possible so if you are really struggling you may need to recalibrate and consider the below strategies.

As you integrate the foundational nutritional guidelines, your need for caffeine will decrease. For example, some have found that by simply introducing celery juice into their regimen they no longer need caffeine.

Browse the following 10 strategies for freeing yourself of caffeine or use your testing technique to determine if any are a priority for you at this time. Make at least 1 adjustment in the next 1-3 days and maintain that adjustment for at least 2 weeks. *Unless directed otherwise

  1. Gradually decrease the amount by 25% each week over the course of 4 weeks. This can be adjusted as needed. You can replace some with decaffeinated versions.
  2. Ensure you are properly hydrated. It is suggested to have 16-32oz of lemon/lime water immediately upon waking in the morning. Throughout the rest of the day consume at least 32 oz of water (best with lemon/lime) and 16 oz in the evening.
  3. Incorporate celery juice and/or coconut water (do not consume any red or pink kind) as these provide critical mineral salts to your body to help alleviate any potential withdrawal symptoms.
  4. Coconut water (not pink or red kinds) can help ward off potential withdrawal symptoms by supplying critical electrolytes and glucose to your cells.
  5. Make sure you are eating frequently and snacking throughout the day so you don’t feel hungry. This helps to reduce stress to your adrenal glands and nervous system.
  6. Make sure you are getting foundational supplement support, particularly the right kinds of zinc, B12, Vitamin C. Lemon balm can also make a huge difference in helping to calm your nervous system.
  7. If you are having difficult cravings for your caffeine product, consider the Cravings Shifter Juice Shot
  8. Try out the Addiction Biofield Tuning
