14. Standing Lateral Rib Cage and Nasal Opening and Closing

This technique helps to facilitate your ability to shift side to side while opening up your nasal airway and rib cage. To learn more about the natural alternating rhythm of your nasal cycle please refer here.

Instructions:

  1. Stand and occlude one nostril.
  2. Shift your body to the same side you are occluding and inhale as you reach over your head and to the side feeling an opening along your rib cage.
  3. Exhale as you bring your arm back down and shift over to the other side.
  4. Switch to occlude the other nostril. 
  5. Inhale reaching overhead and to the side feeling an opening along your rib cage.
  6. Exhale as you bring your arm back down and shift over to the other side.

Perform 5x each side, 1-3x/day. *Unless otherwise directed
