09. Plantar Foot Stroking

This partner technique helps to reduce tension that you may be carrying in your feet which impacts everything above your feet. Often, tension in your feet is correlated with tension in your jaw and upper neck. If you tend to be ticklish on your feet, this technique is a perfect way for you to reduce that hypersensitivity.

Instructions:

  1. Lay on your back with the bottom (plantar) surface of your feet exposed.
  2. Have your partner stroke with 1-2 fingers from the outer edge of the heel up to the outer toes. If you are ticklish you may need to have a slower and more firm hand contact.
  3. Complete 10-20 strokes on each foot, or more if needed to reduce any hypersensitivity, toe curling and ticklish responses.

Perform 1-2x/week for the next 2-3 weeks or as often as desired. *Unless otherwise directed

  • Optionally, use your testing technique to determine your optimal frequency and duration to perform.
