02. Head Hold Technique

This partner head hold technique is a great method to use to get grounded, relaxed and calm your nervous system from any acute or chronic experience.

You can use this as a regular practice to ground inside your body, clear yourself from the day or it can be used when in any acute or emotional distress. Whether your head feels like it is holding the weight of the world or moving a mile a minute, this technique has the potential to quickly calm down and relax your body and nervous system.

Instructions:

  1. Find a partner you feel comfortable with.
  2. Lay on your back in a comfortable position.
  3. Your partner positions themself at your head, facing you and holds their hands together, like a cup, right under the back of your head. The fingertips should rest right where the skull and neck meet while the palms support and hold the head.
  4. The partner holding the head should gently cup the head and relax while remaining still. You are NOT providing any pull or distraction.
  5. Breathe while both people intentionally guide the energy and focus on grounding, slowing things down and relaxing.
  6. Continue until you feeling grounded, relaxed and complete. Roll to your side when you go to sit up.

Perform for ~3-5 minutes or for as long as desired. *Unless otherwise directed

  • Optionally, use your testing technique to determine your optimal frequency and duration to perform.
  • *Perform for both partners to maximize the power of the experience.

If you don’t have a partner, consider these options:

  • Head Holding Release Tool
  • Place 2 tennis balls in a tube sock and tie tightly. Place it under the back of head and upper neck where it is comfortable. Use for ~3 min or as long as desired. Roll to your side when you go to sit up.
