12. Alternating Pucker and Pressed Smile

This technique helps to train your lip seal so that you habitually keep your lips closed. The only time your lips should be apart is if you are talking, eating, drinking or exercising to the point where you need to breathe through your mouth to get enough air.

Otherwise, your lips should stay closed while you breathe through your nose. If you have trouble maintaining a lip seal you may have a lip tie.

Pucker

Lip Pressed Smile

Instructions:

  1. Pucker your lips together as if you were making a “fish face.” Your teeth should be slightly apart.
  2. Next perform a Lip Pressed Smile by pressing your lips together so you sense equal pressure on all sides and then smile as wide as you can while maintaining this pressure.
  3. Hold each position for 45 seconds
  4. Alternate back and forth for 5 sets each.

Perform 2-3 x day. *Unless otherwise directed

  • Optionally, use your testing technique to determine your optimal frequency and duration to perform.
