02. Lip Stretching

If you have trouble keeping your lips closed you likely need to improve the flexibility and strength of them. This technique specifically works on improving the flexibility of your lips to allow a more natural lip seal. If you have trouble maintaining a lip seal you may have a lip tie.

Instructions:

  1. Press your thumbs up inside the front of your upper lip stretching upward and then outward away from your face so you feel a stretch.
  2. Press your thumbs* down inside the front of your lower lip stretching downward and then outward away from your face so you feel a stretch.
  3. You may also move your fingers and pressure out to the side to stretch outwards from midline. You do can this along the upper and lower lips, the upper is shown in the 3rd picture above.
  4. Hold each position for 15 seconds, repeat 3-5x.

Perform 2-3x/day. *Unless otherwise directed

  • Optionally, use your testing technique to determine your optimal frequency and duration to perform.
  • *You may also place a cotton roll up against the lip tissue you are stretching.
  • This is particularly helpful after a lip tie release where the tissue is still healing and may bleed a little.
