02. Understanding the Levels of your Mind

Just because you are awake does not mean you are fully present in your conscious mind, nor multidimensionally present with your full Self and/or Higher Self.

When we are awake we freely shift in and out of our conscious and subconscious minds throughout the day. These shifts are normal and as your state of consciousness shifts you are able to access different states of being, and information within those states.

Your Superconscious Mind:

Your higher self

Infinite wisdom to all there is

Intuition

Unconditional love and compassion

Your Conscious Mind:

Analyzing

Thinking, planning and executive functioning

Short-term memory

Acknowledged emotional states

Your Subconscious Mind:

Long-term memory

Unacknowledged emotions and feelings

Beliefs about self, others and the world

Habits and patterns

Addictions, behaviors, relationship patterns

Ancestral and generational influences

Creativity

Developmental stages and patterning

Your Unconscious Mind:

Archaic ancestral memory

Instinctual patterns and reactions

Autonomic body functions

Collective development and influences

Your power lives within your awareness, embodiment and integration of your full Self.

This includes acknowledging the role and having awareness of the information that resides in each of the aspects of your mind and states of being.

As you can see by the picture, the subconscious creates a significant portion of the mind and has the potential to dominate our experience.

What we think, feel and believe is what we are in vibrational resonance with, or a match to, and is ultimately the lens in which we perceive the world and our experiences. This is especially the case if we have charged or intense memories, emotions, mental and emotional family/ancestral/collective programming that is unprocessed living in our subconscious mind.

Just like a rerun tv show we become magnets to repeating our own subconscious patterns again and again until we finally bring consciousness there.

Every human on some level has some sort of unprocessed physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects that live within the subconscious and unconscious minds.

These typically are the challenging, traumatic and heart breaking moments that are left unprocessed; whether you didn’t know how to process at the time, weren’t given a chance or were never taught how. Whatever the situation, these are the things we hide in the shadows, brush under the rug and try to stick in the back of the mind pretending they aren’t there. We can deny or exile such memories and information even without knowing it sometimes.

Unfortunately, when you have unresolved energy and unprocessed experiences it drains your energy and lowers your overall vitality, making you susceptible and vulnerable to dysfunction and dis-ease. Some call this ‘shadow work’, inner healing, or inner child healing, especially since we are most vulnerable to programming, conditioning and various experiences from 0-7 years old.

The idea of shadow work or addressing hidden or inner trauma, whether it is known or unknown, is to illuminate unproductive programming and clear any burdens. The goal of the work is to shed that which is out of alignment with you now, so you may emerge transformed and embody a more true version of yourself that is free from limiting beliefs, stuck emotional patterns, habitual patterns of reactivity and so much more. With resolution, especially within the subconscious, you may reclaim your energy and aspects of yourself.

Quite often during the healing process it is realized that it is not the traumatic event that needs to be healed but the perception of the trauma and the conclusions or yourself, decisions of how to act or ways of being in response to or after the trauma are the key features that need to be addressed for healing.

Out of some of the darkest places come the brightest lights. Frequently, traumatic experiences propel us in life in a positive direction towards becoming more aware of ourselves and empowered to heal. When you start to do your own inner healing and begin to address that which is hidden in your shadows, you realize that it is really your present perception and physiologic response that keep you locked in the past.

It is important to keep an open mind when it comes to learning from your life experiences, no matter how traumatic and painful. When you look at the stories of your life, an opportunity opens to notice if we are still holding onto any baggage, unprocessed feelings and emotions from these experiences. Your stories are what make you unique but they can also hold you down if you just keep repeating the same narrative, energy patterns, and vibration. Be gentle on yourself as you work on this aspect of yourself, you have been through a lot but it has led you to this potential moment for change.

Triggers show us the shadow aspects of ourselves that we don’t want others to see. Triggers reveal the vulnerability we hold and are the doorway for healing opportunities. If you are curious about working with your triggers and how they support you in life, explore more here.
