04. The Spot-Elastic Hold

The spot is where the tip of your tongue should gently habitually rest except when eating, drinking or talking. It is located just above your front teeth on the very front of your palate.

Instructions:

  1. Bring the tip of the tongue to rest on the spot shown in the photo.
    1. A great way to help train this posture is to use a small elastic band (like what is typically used in orthodontic braces here) and place it on the front of your tongue and up on the spot.
  2. Hold your tongue on the spot when you are not eating or talking.
  3. Start at 1 minute of holding if it challenges you and take breaks as needed. This can be done for up to 45 min at a time. Be careful not to swallow the elastic band.

Perform 1-2x/day or as often as needed until it becomes habitual. *Unless otherwise directed

  • Optionally, use your testing technique to determine your optimal frequency and duration to perform.
