01. Thanksgiving Recipes

Keeping compliant to no eggs, dairy and gluten over the holidays can be quite the task! Not only can it be challenging to find the right substitutes but to also navigate any food family dynamics that come along with the holidays.

It can be awkward to set boundaries when it comes to what you will and won’t consume.

It is recommended to be open with your family in advance about your intentions. This way everyone is prepared and knows what to expect.

  • Option 1: You bring your own food and your family has their own.
  • Option 2: You bring your own food and give your family the option to share. However, get an idea of how many will be sharing your food so you can make an appropriate amount.
  • Option 3: Your family may participate in preparing your food.

Here are some tried and true egg, dairy and gluten free recipes from Heather’s kitchen to enjoy! Of note, even though the substitutions are lacking the eggs, dairy and gluten, the recipes are still relatively high in fat. For some sensitive individuals this may not be as well tolerated. You may consider reducing the amount of vegan butter, oil, sour cream or cheese substitutes. However, it is for a 1 or more (if you have leftovers) days with the expectation that you will return to your regular routine afterwards.

Of course, if you have some personal favorites, it is recommended to use the food substitute list to swap out what would typically be used for gluten, dairy and egg components to the recipe. Experiment and have fun with it!
