15. Prolonged Lip Press

This technique helps to train your lip seal so that you habitually keep your lips closed. The only time your lips should be apart is if you are talking, eating, drinking or exercising to the point where you need to breathe through your mouth to get enough air.

Otherwise, your lips should stay closed while you breathe through your nose. If you have trouble maintaining a lip seal you may have a lip tie.

Instructions:

  1. Purchase a bite wafer here.
  2. Place the wafer between your lips and use your lips to keep it there.
    1. Try to ensure equal pressure on the front and sides.
    2. Your teeth should be slightly apart or gently resting on the wafer, not biting it.
  3. If it is too wide you may trim it with scissors to better match your mouth size.
  4. Try to maintain your tongue up on the roof of your mouth in the “cave position.”
  5. Start with a few minutes and work your way up to 45 minutes, until your lip seal is habitual.

Perform 1-2x day. *Unless otherwise directed

  • Optionally, use your testing technique to determine your optimal frequency and duration to perform.
