04. Pressure Sensory Input

Your body needs to feel the sensation of pressure. Sometimes we think of pressure in life being a bad thing but the truth is that pressure helps us orient and direct ourselves in life. Pressure can help you sense your body more fully and give you the sensation you need to relax. Keep in mind that pressure that feels positive helps to reinforce your brain-body connection.

How to use the input of pressure:

  • Heavy and sustained pressure for >30 seconds can release muscle tension and trigger points.
  • Light and sustained pressure for >30 seconds can release the fascia and connective tissue.
  • Light pressure added with stroking supports lymphatic flow and drainage. *generally stroking towards the center of your body.
