07. Clucks

The technique helps to train the back part of your tongue to contact your soft palate which is where it should habitually rest and contact during swallowing.

Instructions:

  1. Place the back of your tongue up onto your soft palate. If you don’t know where your soft palate is, run the tip of your tongue back along your palate until it changes from hard to soft. This is your target area.
  2. Make a “cluck” sound as the back part of your tongue suctions against your palate.
  3. Complete 2-3 sets of 15 repetitions.

Perform 1-3x/day. *Unless otherwise directed

  • Optionally, use your testing technique to determine your optimal frequency and duration to perform.
  • If you are unable to sense contact on the back of the tongue you may have a tongue tie.
