When there are structural issues at play that are negatively impacting your breathing and thus sleep, the dental profession has many solutions (besides the traditional C-PAP option that the medical professional will routinely prescribe). Performing specific postural restoration and orofacial myofunctional therapy techniques can address neuromuscular tension issues as well as poor patterns related to chewing, swallowing, tongue posture and breathing.
It's possible that you may have enlarged tissues within your nasal cavity such as polpys and turbinates that are blocking airflow. If this is the case, an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor) may be warranted to help surgically remove this extraneous tissue.
Keep in mind that the presence of such enlarged tissue is usually a result of chronic mouth breathing, chronic sinus infections, consuming inflammatory foods such as gluten, dairy or eggs and/or an inherently narrow nasal structure.
