08. Alternating Clicks-Clucks

This technique helps to improve your tongue posture in the front and back. The “click” works on getting the front part of the tongue on the spot (just above and behind your front teeth) and the “cluck” helps to get the back part of the tongue on the back of the palate, your soft palate. These are important resting contact points for habitual tongue posture.

Location the tongue should be during the “click”

Location the tongue should be during the “cluck”

Instructions:

  1. Move the tip of your tongue to the front of your palate just behind your front teeth and make a “click” sound.
  2. Make a “cluck” sound as the back part of your tongue suctions against the palate.
  3. Alternate back and forth 15x each, completing 1-3 sets.

Perform 2-3x a day. *Unless otherwise directed

  • Optionally, use your testing technique to determine your optimal frequency and duration to perform.
  • If you are unable to sense contact on the back of the tongue you may have a tongue tie.
