The amazing healing benefits of celery juice were brought to our attention by the Medical Medium and can be read about in detail in this entire book he dedicated just to celery juice.
Because celery juice is so powerful at detoxifying the problematic pathogens and toxins in your body that are causing your symptoms, if you have a high underlying pathogen and toxin load and/or are sensitive, celery juice can potentially be too much for your body to handle. You may actually experience an increase in your symptoms when attempting it.
The pathogens living in your body ultimately want to survive. As celery juice begins to kill them off, there can be a die-off type of reaction from their dead waste byproduct and/or they may respond by producing irritating toxins. This can result in bloating, abdominal discomfort, increased urinary urgency, pain, more acne, etc. In a way, this is an effective survival strategy for them as such symptoms typically make someone decide that celery juice isn’t working for them and give up on it.
Viruses are inherently neurotrophic. This means they love to live in your nervous system. If you happen to have underlying viruses in the nerves along your intestines or even within your vagus nerve (which controls much of your digestion) this could be a source of discomfort or pain as your body attempts to eradicate them. This also includes any other nerves in your body such as your legs, arms, neck, back, head and face which can be experiencing symptoms such as pain, tingling, numbness, burning, etc.
The bottom line is that your symptoms might actually increase while attempting celery juice. What’s the best way to mitigate this?
The first step is to consider if you are consuming too much celery juice. The average dosage is 16 oz going all the way up to 32 oz and sometimes even 2x a day. However, some may need to start with as little as 1 oz! If you are experiencing detox symptoms from celery juice it is recommended to reduce your dose in half and continue to do so until you find a tolerable amount. HOWEVER, if you are not able to tolerate even 1 oz, then it’s time to try some other strategies.
Instead of celery juice, consider cucumber juice which is very alkalizing, hydrating and soothing to your system, particularly your stomach. Cucumber juice is also great at reducing bloating, swelling and lymphatic congestion.
Give aloe vera a chance to work its calming magic on you, particularly your digestive system. Aloe is alkalizing in addition to boosting the elimination of toxins and pathogens from your body.
If after trying the above and you are still experiencing symptoms, pain and/or digestive woes you may need to consider doing a Mono Eating Cleanse where you focus on eating a single food for at least 1 week to truly be effective.
If the above suggestions still do not help your tolerance, it is recommended to take a break from celery juice and give it another try in a few months. Your body might need some time to heal in certain ways before it is ready for it.
