12. Teeth Tracing

In order to make sure food doesn’t get stuck between your teeth you need to be able to have adequate tongue flexibility and motor control to be able to get into all the sections of your teeth, especially the back molars which are the toughest to reach. This technique focuses on this ability.

To be Performed in both Directions, Upper and Lower Arches,

Starting and Finishing in Center Midline

Instructions:

  1. Place the tip of your tongue in the front center of your upper front teeth.
  2. Trace around the front of your teeth all the way to your back molars on one side. When you reach the last molar try to loop entirely around it to then transition to tracing the inside of your molars.
  3. Continue to the molars on the other side looping around so that you are now on the front of the molars.
  4. Return to the center midline of the upper front teeth.
  5. Reverse directions and complete the teeth trace going to the opposite side now.
  6. Then perform on the lower teeth, starting and finishing at the midline for each trace.
  7. Complete 5x each side, 1-3 sets for the lower and upper teeth.

Perform 2-3x/day. *Unless otherwise directed

  • Optionally, use your testing technique to determine your optimal frequency and duration to perform.
