05. Left Peripheral Vision Walking

This technique helps to integrate your left peripheral vision with your head, neck and body during walking. Due to the asymmetrical nature of the human body, you will be emphasizing your left peripheral vision to help balance your postural system.

Instructions:

  1. When walking with your eyes straight ahead, pay attention to your left peripheral space.
    • Notice objects and the space move by you as you walk.
    • Remember to breathe while walking.
  2. Keep walking and slightly turn your head to the right while looking straight ahead (this will cause you to have to look to the left).
  3. Return your head to a straight position while still walking.
  4. Keep walking and with your eyes only look to the left while keeping your head straight.
  5. Return your head to a straight position while still walking.
  6. Keep walking and turn your head and eyes to look left and take in all that is on your left side.
  7. Return your head to a straight position while still walking.
  8. Complete this 3-10x or more times while on a walk.

Perform this 2-4x/week when walking for the next 1-3 weeks. * Unless otherwise directed.

  • Optionally, use your testing technique to determine your optimal frequency and duration to perform.
